There are hundreds of voice lines in the game, many of which occur between characters. But how many of them are canon? Overwatch's Lead Writer Michael Chu has recently weighed in on a discussion on Blizzard's official forums to clarify some of the finer points.
The voice lines have long been used to build theories and fill in gaps in the storyline, but just how legitimate is this? It's always felt odd knowing that most of the characters are still in the dark about events in the world and yet talk to each other in game as if they know everything about them. The most popular theory has always been Mercy revived Reyes and it went wrong, causing Reaper to become what he is, and while Chu did not outright deny this, remembering to treat all voice lines with skepticism certainly waters down the idea considerably!
